I have had numerous requests to develop a more full featured version of my programs. Internet Logger will provide a convenient means to fully document your internet connections, including:
• Ability to enter complex session rate structures and automatically estimate session
and cumulative costs by day or month.
• Optional Log file documenting session and cumulative times and estimated costs.
• Optionally compute session times by rounding up to the nearest minute. Some online
services seem to compute times this way. You can check it yourself.
• Allows automatic connection via PPP, SLIP, or operation as a manual timer.
• Allows multiple timers with individual settings. You can keep track of use of
multiple providers conveniently. Each can have it's own log file.
• Compatibility with Open Transport
I anticipate releasing Internet Logger in November 1995. If you wish to have a role in its development, you can test the beta version that is available on info-mac/_Communication/_MacTCP. This version does not have PPP and SLIP support, but it does have all other features. I would appreciate bug reports. Feature requests are also welcome. This version will expire on December 1, 1995.
All registered users of MacPPP Timer or InterSLIP timer will be entitled to free upgrades to Internet Logger. If you are a registered user, just send me an email indicating that you would like to upgrade. I anticipate that Internet Logger will be priced somewhat higher than my other programs, so you may get a bargain by registering either MacPPP Timer or InterSLIP Timer before Internet Logger is released. The final version of Internet Logger will have some form of protection. I do this reluctantly, but unfortunately, experience has demonstrated the need for it. I will try not to cause inconvenience.
